A Passing

We are saddened to report that our beloved Bill David passed away on July 16 from a massive stroke. He was 51.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

CANCELLED: Clay Maier comes to Plumas County!

Blackhorse Meadows proudly presents:

Master Horse Trainer and Creator of The Friesian Spectacular,
Clay Maier

In a very special 3-day Long Reining Clinic
September 20, 21 & 22
At Feather River College Equine Facility, Quincy, California

Clay’s long reining program takes both the horse and the trainer through a series of easy to understand steps, building a foundation for almost any training goal.

  • Learn techniques to develop more sensitive hands; find out how and why to teach lateral movement, lengthen stride or collection.
  • Develop confidence and communication on common ground. Long reins give the trainer the ease of confidence to introduce ideas using a safe and easy method.
  •  See the progress your horse makes. Long reining not only provides effective techniques, but allows a perspective for seeing the horse’s progress.
  •  Make every day a productive day. Prepare and accomplish more with long reins in a limited time frame, setting the stage for the pillar of all good training programs – consistency.
This clinic is open to all breeds and ages of horses*, and to students and horses at all levels.

Open to 10 participants and 50 auditors, this clinic will fill up fast.
Don’t miss this special opportunity to learn
from one of the best and most respected trainers in the world.

Clay Maier’s lifetime of experience with many breeds, includes nearly four decades of work with Friesian horses. His well-honed skills include not only starting, training, and exhibiting some of the country’s best known driven horses, but also developing the performance Friesians of The Friesian Spectacular, who, in his hands, demonstrate effortlessly some seemingly impossible movements while he's riding one horse and long reining another.

Clay’s goal in teaching is for both student and horse to gain confidence using clear, easy to understand exercises embedded in a foundation of kind communication and consistency.
